Parent Child Classes

All parent/child classes are currently held at the main campus in East Montpelier.

Morning Garden (parent/child 1 – 3 years)

- Offered in full-year or half-year sessions, September through May
- Friday mornings from 9:00-11:30am
- Maximum of 8 parent/child participants

Our Morning Garden program is designed as an introduction to Waldorf education. The series will include a study guide to stimulate discussion and foster insight into the development of the young child and is led by an Early Childhood educator. Seasonal circle games and songs, storytelling, puppetry and crafts are part of this class. Our daily activities will include kneading and shaping bread dough for snack, doing domestic chores, engaging in free play and providing the opportunity for parents to observe their children. The discussions will include topics such as children’s temperaments, how to tell stories, how to manage transitions, how to discipline through rhythm and love, and how to reduce the impact of media.

Star Meadow (parent/infant – 1year)

- Offered twice per year in the fall and spring
- Friday afternoons, 1:00-2:30pm
- 6 week sessions
- Maximum of 6 parent/child participants

Waldorf Playgroup (parent/child up to age 3)

- Offered during school year, September through May. Free.
- Monday afternoons from 1:00-2:30pm

This free program meets once a week and is offered for children up to age 3 accompanied by their parent or caregiver. We will meet in the Nursery classroom in the Farmhouse. The classroom is filled with simple toys made of natural materials. Such toys stimulate a young child’s natural curiosity and allow them to explore and experience the world in a safe and warm space. An Early Childhood educator will be present to provide a regular rhythm featuring seasonal songs, lap games, an occasional puppet story, free play and conversation.
